Jem will lead this retreat at the Being Peace Retreat Center at Abenhall Manor, England.
This retreat is an invitation to come home to yourself; to rest, reconnect, and heal.
As we nurture compassion and understanding within, our capacity to meet the world with clarity and courage deepens. Together, we awaken from the illusion of separation and remember our shared belonging to one another and the Earth.
Through mindful presence, dialogue, and gentle movement, we rediscover that personal healing and collective transformation are inseparable. When our hearts open to gratitude, generosity flows and peaceful action naturally arises.
In the company of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas (awakened beings moved by love to ease suffering) and following in the footsteps of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, we gather to practice peace in every step. Together, we will learn to look at ourselves and each other with eyes of compassion, cultivating the presence that can transform ourselves and the world.
This retreat invites us back to the present moment; to rest, to heal, and to touch the quiet joy of being alive. By nurturing mindfulness, deep listening, love and understanding, we develop the confidence and purpose needed to meet the challenges of our time with clarity and care.
We will explore teachings on mindful breathing, loving kindness and compassion, the Five Powers (confidence, diligence, mindfulness, concentration, and insight), as well as the wisdom of Interbeing and Emptiness – illuminated by the Heart Sutra and the Diamond Sutra that Cuts Through Illusion.
Rooted in Engaged Buddhism, this retreat is a space for renewal, where personal healing and collective awakening flow together.
